The need for Handlers (and Probers) is a universal one among all test systems. Handlers and Probers account for a significant expense in equipping a test floor. The following illustrates the number of handlers required for (a) 32 CP80s (16 Duals), (b) 28 CP100s (which provide the estimated equivalent average throughput, assuming that CP100s are generating maximum advertised throughput), (c) 5 PE3000/4s and 1 PE300/3 which provide the equivalent average throughput based on actual customer experience. As indicated, the use of PE3000s in this example will free 9 handlers for use on other types of test systems. Handler savings are based on a conservative cost of $100,000 per handler.
