Final Facts:

  • The MMS DTS tester is no longer in production, but we are still finding ways to improve its capability. Over seventy (70) DTS II upgrades are installed and running in production on test floors throughout the world (US, Malaysia, Philippines, and Czech). 
  • A fixed number of these testers are in use around the world and pre-owned systems are not readily found on the used equipment market. Many high commodity products are tested on the DTS so capacity demands can exceed the installed base of testers. Moving products off the DTS to another platform can be very expensive in relation to the ASP of the products and may not be justified.
  • The DTS II is a drop in/plug in enhancement for DTS testers, which will provide increased throughput and higher reliability for these workhorse testers. Capacity will be increased on existing testers by 15% to 30% on average. Payback for the DTS II Upgrade investment is usually 3 to 6 months of production time.
  • The time required to upgrade a tester is less than one day so loss of production time is minimal. Most test application will require no changes so they can be correlated and in production in less than an hour. Some applications may require an adjustment to compensate for the shorter test times resulting from the faster computer. This is a simple procedure of inserting wait statements into the test program, as required, to allow settling before measurements. A test engineer can accomplish this in a matter of minutes.
