DTS II Cost Savings: |
When considering the effect of efficient testers, the purchase price of the testers (even expensive
testers) is often a minor factor when determining savings. We will discuss some of these other
factors to illustrate. |
- Less Floor Space
With the added capacity the DTSII will provide, considerable floor space is freed. This
means more room for other equipment without increasing the size of your test floor.
- Less Personnel (the most costly operating expense)
As additional testers are installed on your test floor, demands increase for personnel
(Operators, Technicians, Engineers, Managers). Since the efficiency of the DTS II decreases
the personnel requirements for your DTS systems, you may draw from this current personnel
resource to operate and maintain other testers.
- Less Handlers / Probers
As additional testers are installed on your test floor, demands increase for handlers and probers. If the handler/prober requirements for your DTS systems are diminished due to increased productivity, the surplus handlers/probers will be available to run on new testers, averting the expense to acquire new ones.
- Less Maintenance Cost/Spare Parts Cost
As the result of obsolete parts, the DTS VME is expensive and difficult to maintain. DTS VME hard drives, power supplies, monitors and other peripherals fail often and are costly to replace. The DTS II is a quality PC replacement with proven high reliability which will result in less production down time. Printer, monitors, memory and disk drives are off the shelf so sourcing difficult and expensive parts is no longer a problem.
- Less Networking Cost
Customers can now choose not to pay expensive annual fees for networking solutions. The DTS II Upgrade can be networked with any of the available PC network or Microsoft solution.

What would be the value of this savings on the average test floor? |
1,296 hours x $200* = $259,200 savings per year |
* $200.00 per hour is the standard average Test Head Utilization cost. |
